My sister runs a photography business. One evening, she called me in a panic — a crew member had bailed the night before a shoot. She called everyone she knew. Tried contractors. Nobody came through in time. The shoot almost fell apart.
I was working as an analyst at Wipro then. I understood operations. I understood systems. But watching her go through this, I couldn't stop thinking: this isn't just her problem. Every small business in Bengaluru faces the same thing. The café that opens at 8am and finds out at 7am their staff didn't show up. The event company scrambling to fill four positions the night before. The retail store with no backup plan and no system.
I also saw the other side — people who genuinely want to work. Students between classes. Freelancers with free days. Professionals looking for a side income.
